Dancing in defense of sex education
Prison for sex education? We danced in front of the bishop’s curia in Krakow in defense of sex education! Thank you all for coming and dancing with us!
At Tuesday’s Sejm session, the first reading of a bill provocatively titled “Stop Pedophilia” took place. However, the bill is not aimed at combating pedophilia, but only at silencing the LGBTQIA community and sex educators.
The bill, prepared by ultra-Catholic circles, proposes to criminalize “praising sexual intercourse or other sexual activities by minors” in connection with the upbringing, education, treatment, or care of minors at school. Such an offense would be punishable by up to three years in prison. The wording of the bill itself and its justification indicate that it concerns sex education.
It is also worth recalling the position of the Polish Society of Sexology, which emphasized that “Pedophilia is an erotic attraction to signs of sexual immaturity, i.e., to the physical characteristics of childhood. […] It should be emphasized that, just like heterosexuality itself, homosexuality per se does not imply any particular predisposition to the illegal sexual abuse of children.” We do not consent to initiatives in the Polish parliament that are full of prejudice, errors, and indoctrination.
That is why on Wednesday, October 16, at 6:00 p.m., we invited everyone to the Bishop’s Palace (ul. Franciszkańska 3) for a joint dance for knowledge, reliable education, and diversity. Why? Because we wanted to show that despite initiatives full of hatred and prejudice, we are here, we are alive, and we will dance!
